Internet marketing, simply put, is the marketing of your products or services over the Internet.

The attraction to Internet Marketing by companies and individuals can be attributed to the lower costs and wider audience that can be reached.  The term “Internet Marketing” is not just about putting banners on websites, linking to other sites, or registering in a search engine but rather a strategy that brings together the creative and technical aspects of marketing.

This can involve Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Social Media Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Pay Per Click, Email Marketing, banners , linking, and many more.

Familiarize yourself with the following terms and lingo.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – This is the process of improving your site’s quality of traffic from a search engine via natural (also called organic) search.  You do this by optimizing your websites content and keywords.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) – This is a form of Internet Marketing that increases your visibility in the search engines by using SEO methods, paid ad placements, contextual advertising, and paid inclusions, basically, you’re buying a place in the search engine results page.

Social Media Marketing - This is the process of promoting your website’s product or services via  social media channels.

Affiliate Marketing – A practice in which you, the company, pays other companies and people to promote your products or services with a monetary reward.

Pay Per Click – This is a method of advertising on the Internet and paying for user clicks leading to your product or service.
